Africa Sunoil – Trusted in Quality Since 1998
Established as a family business in 1998, Africa SunOil has grown into a leading provider of quality oil and fat products, building enduring relationships and a reputation for trustworthiness across Southern Africa.
1998
Founded as a family-owned business with a manufacturing site in Durban producing cooking oil and soap.
2009
Commissioned a soya crushing facility in Nasrec, Johannesburg.
2012
Expanded the oil refinery in Mobeni, Durban and acquired the Felda IFFCO site in Johannesburg.
2014
Established a sunflower crushing facility in Nasrec, Johannesburg
2016
IFFCO becomes a shareholder.
2017
Expanded oil refining capacity in Nasrec, Johannesburg.
2018
Converted the Nasrec crush plant into a versatile multi-seed facility, capable of processing soya, sunflower and maize.
2019
Launched a dedicated soya crushing facility Nasrec, Johannesburg. Consolidated palm-based operations in Mobeni, Durban.
2020
Conducted feasibility studies for expanding the palm oil business.
2023
In October, the founding shareholders regained the 35% stake previously held by Agvestco. By December, a newly built finished-goods warehouse was completed in Nasrec.
2024 – 2025
Initiated in May 2024 and commissioned in early 2025, the ETP processes effluent from our refinery, SEP, crushing and packaging operations. By removing impurities and converting wastewater into reusable permeate, it cuts reliance on external water sources and drives our commitment to sustainable, resource-efficient production.
